House of Galleries 2026
For House Of Galleries 2026, Ruttkowski;68 proudly presents the work of Thomas Wachholz (b. 1984, Cologne) and Prosper Legault (b. 1994, Bordeaux)
Thomas Wachholz explores the matchstick and its box as both medium and motif. Translating ephemeral moments like – the “kiss” of two burning matches- into bronze, he creates a dialogue between industrial materiality and poetic lightness. His sculptures, functioning like jazz riffs, reframe human connections through rhythmic repetition and oversized forms, shifting into new constellations as the viewer moves.
Prosper Legault creates sculptures and installations from a restless energy, using a palimpsest of contemporary consumer culture found on the streets of Paris. His practice is rooted in reclaiming discarded objects—neon signs, adverts, and debris—to uncover hidden narratives within the familiar. Much like a writer constructing a sentence, he remixes the urban environment’s visual vocabulary to explore cycles of decay, repair, and regeneration.
