Luciano CalderonSwitzerland / Bolivia

Luciano Calderon (b. 1986, BOL/CH) spans an autobiographical narrative of personal imprints through his body of work. Between influences from music, folk art, bootleg culture, cultural and personal past, the artist develops his own visual language that in its intense colors and detailed images effortlessly conveys the energy of the vibrant aesthetics of everyday life of the urban Latin America. Calderon’s works are a tribute to a milieu that successfully opposes socioeconomic heteronomy with its own creative will. He appropriates language, symbolism and rules, alienates them and fills them with their own multi-layered meaning, which becomes tangible in the composition of the works. They form a bridge between academic-institutional conception about art and aesthetics as well as an unadulterated creativity, which values the unpretentious, the unadjusted and spontaneous.
